Welcome to Datawear ("we," "our," or "us").
Datawear provides a digital record management platform for farmers, livestock owners, and pet owners. Our services include animal profile management, image storage, NFC-enabled identification, and related operational tools.
We are committed to protecting your personal data and complying with applicable privacy laws, including:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), where applicable
- Other applicable U.S. state privacy laws
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your personal data.
2. Data Controller
For purposes of the GDPR, Datawear acts as the Data Controller of personal data processed through the platform.

3. Categories of Personal Data We Collect
A. Account & Authentication Data
When you sign in using Google OAuth through Supabase, we may collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Google account unique identifier
- Profile image (if provided)
We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or other Google data beyond basic profile authentication information.
B. User-Generated Content
You may provide:
- Livestock records
- Pet profiles
- Animal health or management notes
- NFC tag associations
- Images of animals or related property
- Operational and identification records
Some uploaded images may contain personal data if individuals appear in the images.
C. NFC Interaction Data
If you use NFC hardware with Datawear, we may process:
- NFC tag identifiers
- Associated animal or group profile
- Timestamp of interaction
We do not collect GPS location data unless explicitly disclosed separately.
D. Technical & Log Data
We may automatically collect:
- IP address
- Device type
- Browser type
- Access timestamps
- Error logs
We do not use third-party analytics tracking services at this time.
4. Lawful Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under Article 6 of the GDPR, we process personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contractual Necessity — Processing necessary to provide the Datawear platform and its features.
- Legitimate Interests — Securing and improving platform reliability; preventing fraud or misuse; maintaining system integrity.
- Legal Obligation — Where required by applicable law.
- Consent — Where required, such as if we introduce optional features that require explicit consent.
5. How We Use Your Data
We use personal data to:
- Authenticate and manage accounts
- Store and manage livestock and pet records
- Associate NFC tags with profiles
- Enable image uploads and retrieval
- Maintain system security
- Comply with legal requirements
We do not sell personal data. We do not engage in behavioral advertising.
6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Supabase infrastructure. Security measures include:
- Encrypted HTTPS connections
- Secure authentication tokens
- Role-based access controls
- Encrypted cloud storage for images
- Restricted internal access
Despite reasonable safeguards, no system can guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
If you access Datawear from the European Economic Area (EEA), your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and appropriate safeguards provided by our infrastructure providers.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active, as necessary to provide services, and as required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Upon deletion request: account authentication data will be removed; user-generated content will be permanently deleted unless legally required to retain it.
9. Your GDPR Rights
If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; request erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"); restrict processing; object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent (where applicable); lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect; request deletion of your personal information; request disclosure of data categories collected; not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights. Datawear does not sell personal information.
11. Children's Privacy
Datawear is not directed toward children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Automated Decision-Making
Datawear does not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. If changes materially affect your rights, we will provide additional notice where required.
